president picks up this ball at some point, and most of them end up very disappointed. bill clinton spent a lot of time on it. george w. bush in the end of his administration tried. president obama didn't touch it much in the first term. now he says he's going to try but the big difference is the things that keep the israelis and palestinians from the bargaining table are still there. they feel good about the conversation a month or two or three, are they back at the table. >> the president's in jordan today. what's the focus there? >> reporter: syria. syria. syria. jordan normally a key u.s. ally in trying to nudge the palestinians on some issues. one of the few arab nations that has relationships with israel. but the refugee crisis coming into this country from syria dominated the discussions. king abdullah has a country with a tough economy to begin with. they've spent nearly $1 billion. they say they are approaching half a million syrian refugees and they think it will keep getting worse. the president promised about $200 million more. the united states is already giving quite a bit o
of professional ladder and it was extremely unpleasant. >> never lost its punch. that is what hillary clinton said. i could have stayed home and baked cookies and people were appalled. >> i want to read a quote that speaks to this from "the feminine mystique: 50 years" which shows what was. as women move into the work place. she wrote another hazard a woman facing on her way out of attracting to hostility of other housewives. and over and over again said she was for choice. she did not say you must get a top level job. she said you need to be free to choose what kind of life you want which includes work or may not. she was not -- even though i looked at "the feminine mystique: 50 years" again, not very kind to the housewife staying home. i think politically she saw very quickly you cannot dismiss many hundreds and thousands of people, you have to respect them and make it possible for them to feel pride in themselves or they will come and kill you. >> you don't want to be denigrating. i don't think it is in feminism's interest or the interest of reality to be denigrating how difficult child care, t
? >> they've got a long memory but if hillary colin con couldn't negotiate this -- if hillary clinton couldn't negotiate this, i don't think john kerry will be able to deliver anything differently. that status of force agreement was critical. i think we should remember this when we are dabbling in whether or not to have a long-term presence and influence in afghanistan, the problem is iraq is that much more important. it is strategically more significant and we let it slip away. >>brian: after all that hard work and sacrifice. thanks so much. 17 after the hour. thanks for joining us this morning. >>> remember those shovel-ready projects? why are we now paying for a gas tax? fox business's charles payne is here telling us where that money is going. >> it was the ad no one was supposed to see. supposed to see. now ford is under fire. what's droid-recognition ? understanding you clearly... what is the capital of zimbabwe ? ... the first time you ask with the google voice search. the droid razr maxx hd by motorola. droid recognition. droid powerful. mommy's having a french fry. yes she is, yes s
, it is fascinating. i've been here in the past with president clinton, with president george w. bush, now president obama. in the past the israeli-palestinian conflict is always at the top of the agenda but given the event in this complicated neighborhood that is now more complicated and confused than ever, the israeli-palestinian conflict is down on the list. the president wants to share information and get information from his israeli counterparts about what's going on in syria. did the government in syria use chemical weapons against its own people. that's a big question. obviously the nuclear showdown with iran. the presidentister wants assurance if that diplomacy doesn't bear fruit that the president of the united states is prepared to put the military option on the table. and, yes, the president did say he wants to have peace in the holy land and he will make that a priority. no accident the president says that this is the first international trip of his second term. >> this is no accident. across this region, the winds of change bring both promise and peril. so i see this visit as an opportu
hillary clinton. and president obama at the house with had a special irish message. >> obama: there's an old irish saying that is the recipe for a long life is to leave the table hungry, leave the bed sleepy leave the bar thirsty, we'll see if that works tonight. [ laughter ] >> bill: and president obama took chuck todd to task for asking too many questions. >> another question i have for you -- >> obama: chuck how many you got. you are going to do this to the israeli press -- you see how the young lady from channel one. she had one question. >> bill: yeah, come on chuck. and finally weatherman says birthday to a very special friend watching the channel. >> any way, christie and joe hornton ninth anniversary, and hugh jaynus turning ten. [ laughter ] >> what? >> it's one of those -- >> bill: yeah, huge anus. happy birthday. >> announcer: this is the "bill press show." iq will go way up. (vo) current tv gets the converstion started weekdays at 9am eastern. >> i'm a slutty bob hope. >> you are. >> the troops love me. (vo) tv and radio talk show host stephanie miller
